I responded, "How Many T-shirts Do You Have?" He could not tell me exactly how many because there were too many to count. The Funny T-shirt business is an excellent way to make money, but can be a very tough industry.

Designs

We have always been committed to bringing our customers the highest quality screen printed funny t-shirts possible. However, when we started out, we had no idea how to design t-shirts and did not know anything about graphics programs. When designing funny tee shirts, you always need to be able to adapt an image to an idea, and this is where I really had problems.

So, I purchased a few clip art programs with funny images that we could use on t-shirts and then added some text and adapted them to our funny ideas. Graphic programs have come a long way in terms of being easy to use, and before long, we had a number of great designs for our Funny Tee website.

Printing

Printing tshirts can be very expensive once you purchase all of the equipment needed. So to start, we did a lot of research on which of our funny t-shirt designs we thought would sell the best and then got in touch with some local t-shirt printers and received some prices. We picked the best printers based on price, lead time to finish the job, and final product and placed an order for about 50 t-shirts.

Selling

Once the tees were received, we started to put our funny tee shirts out on the web. We used sites like eBay, Amazon, Half.com, and a number of others to get our funny message out there. It was not long before we realized that we could start up a very inexpensive website for only about $12.00 a month and a $10.00 domain name.

Once the website was done (we just used one of the templates that came with the website to start), we started to advertise our t-shirts on Google AdWords. In no time, we sold all 50 tshirts and had to order more. We pumped all of the profit that we made into new t-shirts and next time ordered 100.

Pretty soon, we found out that we could put all of our profits into purchasing our own equipment and learning how to print the funny t-shirts ourselves.

Growing

Once we had our equipment, we learned very quickly that anyone can print their own t-shirts after purchasing a How To Print Your Own T-shirts DVD. It does take some time and patience and practice, but anyone can do it. However, pretty soon we realized that our funny t-shirt designs were no longer funny. We had to come up with some more ideas.
